About us
UK Metals Council Aims
The UK Metals Council (UKMC) aims to enhance the profile of our sector and to lobby Government on key actions and issues that impact the 11,500 companies in our industry.
We represent 12 of the country’s largest industry trade bodies and this comprises business leaders from the supply chain, primary manufacturing and recycling.
Together, we want to create a modern, sustainable and progressive UK metals industry that is able to supply high-quality, innovative and competitively priced products to domestic manufacturing and infrastructure projects.
UKMC will do this by:
1. Co-ordinate policy responses to government representing a sector-wide view, in the areas of:
- Net Zero 2050 and Sustainability
- Skills
- Innovation
- Trade
- Energy
- SMEs and manufacturing supply chains
- Steel Safeguarding
- CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms)
2. Maintain and grow a higher external profile, positively representing the metals sector through proactive media relations, speaker placements and broadcast opportunities.
3. To grow the scale and scope of the UK Metals Expo, the sector’s largest annual event that foster relationships, advances education and showcases new technology and solutions across the supply chain.
