A message from our chair
“Despite working in manufacturing for more than three decades, I am still surprised by the sheer depth of ‘metals’ talent we have in this country and the appetite to embrace new material innovations, the circular economy (with the right support) and to succeed in the face of a myriad of challenges – the majority often out of companies control.
In my tenure, we have grown trade association membership and involvement, lobbied the Government on key issues and raised the sector’s profile through a stronger media presence, along with instigating the largest independent annual state of the nation survey and report for the metals sector
We all touch metals every day, be that in our homes, in the services we all use, in the cars, planes and trains we travel in, in the medical devices we rely on, as well as all the tools and machinery used for their production.
And now it is recognised that metals can be infinitely and readily recycled into new parts, we need to value metals even more!”
